Rosewood sideboard attributed to Vittorio Dassi, 1950s

Sideboard attributed to Vittorio Dassi. The elegantly ovalised base narrows towards the profiled centre and is outlined above by ebonizing, below by brass slats.

The base accommodates two vase-shaped columns carved in a thousand rows and ebonised, which support the body of the cabinet. The sideboard is sinuous with its curved sides and rounded ashlars. Masterfully crafted in solid wood and veneered in rosewood. It has four doors, with a bar compartment in the centre with a glass back decorated in silver. The top is black glass. Piece attributed to the designer shown above. Has no attribution mark or proof of authenticity, but is documented in design history. Patina due to age and use, excellent overall condition, insignificant signs of wear.

Dimensions: h.94 x 186 x 46 cm.
