MORENO OVANI
Moreno Ovani is a self-taught artist, who has always cultivated his natural inclination towards figurative under the influence of intense light and shade “chiaroscuro”. With endless and constant work of pure technical research centered on colour and material, he finally reached powerful chromatic minimalism in his works in the forms of statues or bodies that emerge from the dark.
From his personal subconscious arising, his dark and individual experiences, Moreno Ovani is able to produce decisively his works, his most recent are of important dimensions, made on paper that is then worked and consumed before being put onto canvas.
The artist uses oil paints and acrylics, he alternates the use of brushes to cuttlefish bones and natural sponges, with which he is able to obtain a patina that recalls to the mind vintage photographs.
